Robot Report Week 25

This week's email is going to be short and too the point. The reason, I have a full week volunteering at the FRC Regional going on in OKC right now, and I just frankly don't have enough time in the evening to type up a big email this week.  However, I feel these three bits are still important to share.

----------------------------------------------------
1. Oklahoma FRC Regional
----------------------------------------------------
Our annual FRC event for the state just completed its second day after setup on Wednesday and practice matches on Thursday. Tune in Friday and Saturday to watch the opening ceremonies, qualification matches, finals, and award ceremonies.

Follow that link for all the information on the event, including two separate twitch streams.

----------------------------------------------------
2. Tulsa Rover Ruckus Invitational
----------------------------------------------------
I will likely send out one more final reminder about this event after I gather the needed information from our crew in Tulsa that are hosting the event. As a reminder though, March 16th, next Saturday, robots, matches, competition, fun, and excitement. Come experience one more event this year with all your favorite volunteers.

3. Shameless Plug
----------------------------------------------------
Don't mind me while I shamelessly plug the two new sources that teams have to get this weekly information.

Robot Report Week 24

The season's events for Rover Ruckus are nearly at an end, but not yet completely finished. We still have one more post-season Oklahoma event in March, as well as the World Championships in April.

----------------------------------------------------
2. Jump Start 2019-2020
----------------------------------------------------
If you are discussing joining FIRST with people over the next 2 months, the flyer I have attached will come in handy. A key point to include if teams are uncertain about registering under Jump Start vs waiting and registering after the new season starts in June, is that it costs the same amount to register now as it is to wait. So you may as well get a "Jump Start" and register now so you can get your parts in and have more time to prepare. In addition, their odds of being approved for the need based $550 grant is just the same now, as it will be if they wait till June. We have been assured by FIRST staff that they will not be changing any of the criteria for the grant between now and the 2019-2020 season.

This grant ends April 13th, any teams after that date will need to wait until next season's registration opens, and they open the process for the new year's grant.

3. Incremental OklahomaFTC Upgrades
----------------------------------------------------
Over the next few months I will be striving to announce some upgrades bit by bit as we prepare for the next season.

The first one is that our website now defaults to https secure encryption through cloudflare. If anyone has difficulty accessing the website after this change, please inform me so I can investigate and fix any issues that have cropped up.  https://oklahomaftc.com/

The second small upgrade is the inclusion of a twitter account to help get information out. Unless I have anything that I want specifically to go just to the coaches of teams, any information will be broadcast through twitter as well so the entire team can access it.  https://twitter.com/OklahomaFTC

----------------------------------------------------
4. State Championship Photos and Video
----------------------------------------------------
We have two options for those looking for photos. Option 1 are the photos taken by our two volunteers from team 13709. In addition to helping operate the hand held video camera for our live stream, they were also going around taking photographs of the event, including some with a darker exposure to highlight the unique lighting on some robots. These photos are being uploaded as I speak and can be accessed from a Flickr account I have setup to host them.

The second option for photos are those taken by Cindy White, and WOW, just WOW. You can access these photos here, and download a free copy of any photo you like, or even purchase physical prints, or a book of prints commemorating the event.

You can re-watch the video of the event on our twitch page, with certain portions of it muted due to detected music copyrights.

----------------------------------------------------
5. Tulsa Invitational
----------------------------------------------------
There are still open spots for the Tulsa Invitational event on March 16th.  Head over here to sign-up.  https://oksef.org/first-tech-challenge  As a reminder I have attached the flyer with information about the event.

6. Oklahoma FRC Regional
